About the Work:
The Al-Hamlet Summit, written and directed by Sulayman Al-Bassam, reimagines Shakespeare’s Hamlet as a contemporary political drama set in the Arab world. Staged as an international summit, the play examines dictatorship, political corruption, religious extremism, Western intervention, and the machinery of war.

Tea Alagić performed the role of Ophelia at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre. The production received a Scotsman Fringe First Award and other honors in Cairo.
