About the Work:
Daleko je Kandahar (Far from Kandahar), an award-winning play by Anita Čeko, is a deeply human story about family, love, waiting, and the distance created by war.

A father is serving on a military mission in Afghanistan while his family remains at home, facing fear, uncertainty, and life without him. Through their relationships, conversations, and unspoken emotions, the play explores how war changes not only those who leave, but also those who remain behind and wait.

The play received the Third Marin Držić Award for Drama in 2021 and was first presented in a world premiere directed by Tea Alagić.

Daleko je Kandahar tells a contemporary story of a family trying, despite distance and circumstances that keep them apart, to preserve closeness, love, and a sense of belonging.
