About the Work:
Self-Accusation, by Peter Handke, abandons traditional plot and characters for a rhythmic sequence of confessions. Through language, the performers trace how people learn to speak, follow rules, enter society, and judge themselves against its expectations.
Tea Alagić directed the production for the Ensemble Company for the Performing Arts in New Haven. Handke’s text examines guilt, conformity, identity, and the power of language to shape-and control-the individual.
