About the Production

Sam’s Perspective explores the fragmented and partial nature of memory and perception through an interactive, multi-sensory performance structure. The piece is built around the idea that memory is unstable—shifting depending on who is remembering, and how it is being recalled.

The performers navigate personal and autobiographical material, from Alagic’s recollections of pre-war Bosnia to Rzepski’s experience of childbirth, weaving these narratives into a layered theatrical environment that resists a single, unified viewpoint.

Audience members are not passive observers but active participants in shaping meaning. Each is given an earpiece through which they hear intimate, interior narratives from the performers, as if momentarily entering their thoughts. At the same time, a moveable set composed of two shifting screens continually reconfigures the visual field, altering sightlines and spatial relationships throughout the performance.

Because spectators are seated on all sides of the staging, no two audience members experience the same combination of audio and visual information. As a result, each person constructs a unique version of the event—making the production itself a study in subjective experience, fractured storytelling, and the unreliability of shared memory.
