About the Work:

Queens is a powerful and intimate play about immigrant women building lives in New York while carrying the histories, losses, and dreams of the worlds they left behind. Set in an illegal basement apartment in Queens, the play brings together women from different generations and backgrounds whose lives become unexpectedly intertwined.

Through their stories, Majok explores immigration, motherhood, identity, belonging, survival, and the complicated pursuit of the American Dream.

Martyna Majok is a Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright, best known for Cost of Living, which received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Queens premiered Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater in 2018 and was later reimagined for a 2025 Off-Broadway production by Manhattan Theatre Club at New York City Center.
